Namibia's climatic condition reflects its diverse terrain. The summer months from November to April, specifically from January to February, are very hot. The winter months of June, July and August can be chilly with temperatures dropping to 0 °C (32 °F) in the night, though it never snows. A mild prelude to the rainy season starts in October and continues through December, followed by some serious downpour from January to April. If you are travelling in the mountains, which soar to an altitude of 2606 m, it can get quite cold.
Typical of the desert-like environment, Namibia's capital city, Windhoek, in central Namibia, has hot and arid temperatures that climb up to 40 °C (105 °F) during the day and fall to frosty lows in the night. It gets humid from December to February but the high altitude makes it somewhat bearable. A warm northerly airflow keeps shoppers, diners and those on a big night out comfortable. During the daytime in the winter, it is pleasantly warm with a little sun and a little rain.
The most popular time to travel to Windhoek is from March to October, specifically from April to June.
