Waterberg Plateau Park

Set at the base of the plateau, Waterberg Camp (previously named Bernabe de la Bat), with its dramatic cliffs and lush foliage, is one of the more picturesque government resorts. It has a rich biodiversity mainly due to the numerous natural springs on the southern side of the plateau. However, except for guests who are booked on one of the scheduled four day hikes, it is only possible to visit a small portion of the park - either by walking to the top of the plateau from the camp on one's own, or by booking a scheduled guided (a term used loosely in this context) drive. The former provides spectacular views over the surrounding landscape, but unfortunately it is not possible to walk much further than the lookout point.

Like many of the Namibian Wildlife Resorts, Waterberg has recently undergone a facelift and in turn, a marked increase in prices. There are now a variety of options from basic camping to more luxurious bungalows.

Late check-out may be allowed on request, subject to availability.

Children up to the age of six years can stay free of charge and children between the ages of six and twelve are charged 50 % of the full rate. No more than two children may share a room with their parents.

If notice of cancellation is given 14 days before arrival date or less, or in the case of no show, there is a 100 % cancellation fee. Notice given 15 to 21 days before the booked arrival date results in a 75 % cancellation fee. Notice given 22 to 30 days before arrival results in a 50 % cancellation fee and notice of 30 days or more before arrival results in a 25 % cancellation fee.
