Eningu Clayhouse Lodge

The lodge was originally built in 1995 by Volker and Stefanie Hummer who took local clay from the Seeis River and made over 120,000 sun-baked clay bricks to create each adobe-style unit. The rooms are decorated in warm, earthy colours with exposed wooden beams, hand painted floors and antique furniture.

The area around the pool and jacuzzi is beautifully designed using mainly Waterwise, desert plants and local rocks that blend in perfectly with the surrounding landscape.

The main lodge has an intimate dining area with a fireplace for colder nights as well as an open thatched lapa that is suitable for summer. There is an extensive wine cellar with over 1000 different South African wines, a cosy cigar bar, a roof terrace from which to enjoy sundowners, and a library.

Activities include a botanical hiking trail, a hide overlooking a waterhole which attracts much birdlife and from where one can watch the nightly porcupine feed, and a variety of more options such as archery, volleyball and badminton.

Infants under the age of two sharing with parents stay free of charge. Children between the ages of two and 12 years sharing with parents will be charged a discounted rate.

If notice of cancellation is given 14 days before arrival date or less, or in the case of no show, there is a 100 % cancellation fee. Notice given 15 to 21 days before the booked arrival date results in a 75 % cancellation fee. Notice given 22 to 30 days before arrival results in a 50 % cancellation fee and notice of 30 days or more before arrival results in a 25 % cancellation fee.
